Professor Rob Short is an internationally recognised materials scientist with expertise in chemistry, biomaterials and advanced materials research, development and commercialisation. He is an inventor on 10 distinct patents underpinning globally sold products including myskinTM, a burns treatment technology adopted by the UK’s National Health Service and used for more than a decade in major burns units across the UK up until 2017. Professor Short has held senior leadership roles at leading universities in the UK and Australia, helped establish advanced materials research and development companies, secured more than $250 million in grants and investment, and published more than 250 peer-reviewed papers. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. He is currently Professor of Chemistry and Head of the Sustainable Materials Research Cluster at the University of Sheffield.
